Union Park Middle School – New Construction
1844 Westfall Dr, Orlando, FL 32817
Project Description
Union Park Middle School represents one of McCree’s largest and most challenging educational projects to date. The scope of work for this project was to essentially construct a new middle school on the existing occupied campus. This task was accomplished in just two phases. Phase One consisted of a new three-story classroom building, a new single-story cafeteria, kitchen, and extensive sitework. Careful planning and communication enabled us to successfully complete this project on time and on budget. Logistics centered around keeping the existing campus systems up and running during demolition and construction was a major challenge. The second phase of this project overlapped the first phase during the summer break. The scope of work for the second phase included demolition and renovation of existing buildings, and construction of a new building that housed administrative space, as well as a center for art and music. In addition; new parking, bus loop and outdoor athletic courts were constructed. By suggesting a temporary bus loop, renovating some of the existing buildings and overlapping the two phases, McCree was able to shorten the duration of the project and save the district over one million dollars.
The project was completed on time, on budget, and with exceptional quality.
