The Mercado is an integrated 250,000-square-foot multiple-building facility, located on International Drive near the Orange County Convention Center. Designed and built by McCree, the facility is based on the festival marketplace concept developed by James Rouse as part of his planned community designed at Columbia, Maryland. The Mercado architectural design centers on a Mediterranean village theme, and includes several separate component buildings, including six major restaurants, a large open plaza, and a 120-foot tower. Although the structure is gone it still stands as one of McCree’s largest projects completed in square footage and overall community impact.

The project was completed on time, on budget, and to the delight of the community.
