The church’s overall goal was to build out the site – a downtown city block on Church Street – so the ministries of the church could be realized. A Life Center (gymnasium, infant care, classrooms, recreation and art spaces) started the process in 1995. In 2000, the church embarked on the final phase of construction when they undertook construction of the new Edington Education/Administration Building. At the same time, the existing sanctuary and existing Allen & Yowell education building – which houses The Christ School – were extensively renovated. The “Angel Wing,” a fiberglass and steel structure spanning between buildings, was also erected at this time and covers the courtyard for outdoor activities. Keeping the church in functioning operation became a challenging problem. With the sanctuary in renovation, services and administrative operations were moved to the Life Center; services were held in the gym and classrooms were turned over for administration purposes. This still required some public movement around the campus, which was hampered by the addition of an OUC chilled-water loop line running from Jackson Street through the middle of the site. Careful protection of this trench kept church members and construction workers safe.

This project was completed on time, within budget, and above FPCO expectation for quality.
