ORLANDO, Fla.
(February 24, 2009) – McCree General Contractors & Architects, Orlando’s
premier design/build firm, recently completed Fire Station #7, Florida’s first LEED-Sliver
Fire Station for the City of Orlando.
Orlando Fire Station #7 was designed
and built according to the prototype criteria for a total of six fire stations
for the City of Orlando.
It was completed
six weeks ahead of schedule and under budget. This facility is an 11,530 square
foot fire station equipped with truck bays, offices, a state-of-the-art kitchen, a dining/meeting
room, individual sleeping quarters and a triage area. This prototypical design can be used on
varying sites and is shovel ready within 90 days.
“Fire
Station #7 is not only the first LEED-Silver Fire Station, but it was also
completed in just 5 and a half months. This project marks a great milestone for
both the City of Orlando
and McCree, “said Richard McCree Jr. CEO/President of McCree.
All six
stations were designed with eco-friendly features that will not only reduce
environmental impact, but will also save the city a considerable amount of
money on energy and water. The buildings
use natural light resources, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems and
low-water usage faucets and plumbing.
"We
are proud to be leading the state in the construction of LEED-certified Fire
Stations. With the expertise of McCree Construction we have completed five
LEED-certified stations, and now the first LEED-Silver Fire Station in the
State," stated Mayor Buddy Dyer.
Currently in its 83rd
